Eco-plugging is not only less costly, but it is also ideal for use in hard-to-reach locations where there could be stump grinding accessibility issues.

Eco-plugging is an exceptionally effective treatment for killing tree stumps and doesn't affect the surrounding trees and vegetation. Eco-plugs can be used at any time of the year and in all weather, and they destroy the whole root system of a tree stump. Effective for use on a variety of trees, eco-plugs are 95-100 percent effective and contain a type of crystalline glyphosate herbicide.

Wood Chipping Bexhill-on-Sea

Wood Chipping Bexhill-on-Sea

The majority of Bexhill-on-Sea tree surgeons will use wood chipping machines to break down the smaller tree limbs and branches that are generated by their work. Although it depends on the equipment that is being used, these powerful wood chipping machines can gobble up as much as forty tonnes of material each hour, and even the smaller, more frequently used models can process around five tons each hour, or essentially as much as you can feed in.

Chopping down the timber in this way makes it easier to transport and also produces a useful by-product that is good for a number of purposes such as, landscaping, cultivating mushrooms, mulching gardens, wood pulp, garden pathways, biomass fuel, weed prevention and ecosystem restoration.

Storm Damage Bexhill-on-Sea

At first glance, trees seem strong, sturdy and capable of standing up to more or less anything that Mother Nature can inflict on them. Some types of trees can in actual fact live and continue to grow for several hundred years and will do so happily in most situations.

However, trees can be quite vulnerable to the elements when faced with certain conditions, and it isn't just the danger of falling branches and tree limbs, but in times of extreme weather the whole tree can fall down. Trees have got one major weather related enemy, and that is high winds. As severe storms and extreme weather events become more and more common with climate change, this form of damage will occur with greater frequency in Bexhill-on-Sea as time passes. Extended periods of rainfall or flooding can cause soil to become saturated, which can cause further issues for trees, as can heavy snow during wintertime.

To lessen the likelihood of issues with your trees in severe weather conditions, it is recommended that you get a professional Bexhill-on-Sea tree surgeon to examine them from time to time, and trim any dead, dying or excessively long branches.

Copper conductors, lightning rods, or other protection systems are also recommended for larger trees, to prevent them being struck by lightning and to safeguard nearby property and buildings which may be susceptible to side-flashes ("arcs") that can cause more damage, in addition to harm done to the tree itself. Lightning strikes can severely weaken trees, meaning that they are more susceptible to disease or pest attacks, and even kill them in some cases. Lightning occurs more frequently than you might imagine, and there are approximately 300,000 lightning strikes each year in the UK.

Ask your local Bexhill-on-Sea tree surgery company what they can do to protect your trees from being damaged by storms and minimise the chance of serious consequences should an unstable tree topple over due to bad weather. Removing Tree Stumps Bexhill-on-Sea

After having a substantial tree felled in Bexhill-on-Sea, you will likely be left with yet another issue - the tree stump. In some situations it may be plausible for you to leave the tree stump where it is until such time as it rots and breaks down by itself. However, a substantial tree stump could take several years to rot away, and may even produce suckers in an effort to regrow itself. Protruding tree stumps can also be an eyesore, can attract unwanted pests, and be a dangerous trip hazard for your family.

If you elect to remove the stump once and for all, there are several ways you can do this, but basically they fall under two primary choices stump removal or stump grinding. In the next few sentences, we'll be considering the different methods of removal.

In regards to getting rid of a tree stump, the three primary methods are chemical treatments, digging out by hand and burning. If it's your intention to undertake the stump removal yourself, any one of these techniques could be an option. Professional tree surgeons will most often suggest the aforementioned stump grinding option, although might offer the alternative of a chemical treatment like eco-plugging.

Hand Stump Digging: Digging by hand is relatively straightforward and involves digging down, cutting all the roots, and freeing the stump. For the final freeing process you might need to use some form of winch. This is exceptionally tough work and isn't for the faint-hearted or unfit.

Chemical Treatments: Chemical treatment requires the use of a powerful chemical substance like Vitax SBK Stump Killer, Resolva Xtra Tough Tree Stump Killer or Roundup Tree Stump Remover. It is vital that you follow the directions closely when applying any of these chemicals, as they can be toxic and dangerous. Subject to the dimensions of the tree stump, and if it's alive or dead when it's treated, it can take a few weeks or even months for a stump to rot down completely, so look at this as a long term fix. Once rotted, an axe can be used to chop it up and a spade for removal.

Burning a Tree Stump: As it can be dangerous and may contravene local legislation, burning tree stumps isn't really a recommended course of action, so if you choose this method, take great care. A few one inch holes will need to be drilled in the tree stump, and for a number of days kept topped up with vegetable oil. The tree stump is then piled up with charcoal or logs and set alight. However, this must be constantly supervised and not left unattended. When the fire has burnt out, you must ensure that it's extinguished and cool, after which you can dig out the stump debris and roots.

This is not the only way to burn a stump, and you could also try shoveling out all the soil from beneath the stump and building a fire in the void that has been made underneath. There are of course a number of circumstances where burning isn't appropriate, such as when there are other trees, buildings or fences close to the stump in question.

Accidents Through Tree Surgery

The work carried out by tree surgeons in Bexhill-on-Sea can be very dangerous. All possible safety measures should be implemented when working on trees, because most tree work involves a considerable risk of injury to both operatives, co-workers and passers-by.

As reported by the HSE, a large majority of fatal and serious injuries are associated with the use of chainsaws, falls from trees, and being hit by a falling branch or tree. Surprisingly, operatives involved in tree care work are more at risk of sustaining a serious injury than those working in the construction industry.

In relation to insurance claims the most frequent tree work accidents involve lifting injuries, being struck by objects (trees, branches, grapple hooks, cranes, ropes etc) and slipping from ladders.

When work needs to be done on your trees, this all demonstrates the importance of employing a knowledgeable Bexhill-on-Sea tree surgeon. Inexperienced workers attempting tasks that they aren't trained in, accounts for the majority of accidents in the tree care industry. Therefore, using an experienced and trustworthy Bexhill-on-Sea company that has been trading in the local area for a good few years, is the most effective way to sidestep such issues.

Protecting Trees in Winter

While you might not believe that the weather conditions in the British Isles are severe enough to justify protecting your trees and shrubs, it may be a good idea to take a second look at this. Even the most hardy of shrubs, trees and plants can find it hard during wintertime, and any amount of additional protection during times of severe cold will definitely benefit them.

Although many of your trees will have already shed their leaves by wintertime in Bexhill-on-Sea, it is storms and high winds that are the biggest worry, and although they may offer less wind resistance, they could still be damaged. If a tree in your garden is swaying precariously in the wind, or has been damaged by gales, a tree surgeon should be contacted to perform an examination. Heavy snowfall can also cause branches to break, so keep your eyes open when these sorts of weather conditions arrive. Some trees and shrubs, especially recently planted ones, might require a bit of protection from ice and frost, and a thick covering of mulch can help keep the soil frost-free around their bases.

Pollarding Bexhill-on-Sea

Tree Pollarding Bexhill-on-Sea East Sussex

The method whereby the size of a tree is significantly lessened because it has gotten too big for its current surroundings, is know as "pollarding". This procedure is also sometimes employed for visual reasons to mould a tree into an especially desirable shape or form. You'll regularly witness trees that have been pollarded growing alongside roadways in Bexhill-on-Sea, and also quite frequently in managed hedgerows Since pollarded trees have got such a naked and harsh appearance, and will never return to their "pre-pollarded" shape, the process is not very popular with those who adore trees. However, in spite of the relatively ugly appearance of pollarded trees like planes, maples, limes, sycamores, beeches, oaks and horse chestnuts, there is a positive aspect to the procedure, in that these trees can be retained when they would otherwise have to be chopped down.

Leylandii Hedge Removal Bexhill-on-Sea

The Leylandii hedge is a commonly chosen option for Bexhill-on-Sea householders who desire both quick growth and privacy. Despite their benefits, they can quickly become unwieldy and require significant maintenance. There are a few vital things to bear in mind when contemplating the removal of a Leylandii hedge. Initially, it's essential to make sure that the hedge is not covered by any legal protections, including a Tree Preservation Order. When the hedge is under legal protection, you must seek the local council's authorization before you can remove it. Additionally, Leylandii hedges can possess extensive root systems, which underscores the need to employ a certified tree surgeon to safely remove both the hedge and its roots. Lastly, it's imperative to dispose of the hedge waste in an environmentally responsible manner once it's removed. To sum up, removing a Leylandii hedge can be a hazardous and lengthy process, requiring the implementation of adequate safety precautions and possibly consulting with an expert.

Safe Tree Surgery

Tree Surgery Safety Bexhill-on-Sea East Sussex

One of the key issues with doing tree surgery in Bexhill-on-Sea is the safety aspect, given that it can certainly be a hazardous undertaking if conducted badly. There are a number of things that may lead to damage or injury if the so called tradespeople carrying out the work are inexperienced or unqualified. Among the most typical situations are no head protection, not cordoning off the work area to protect passers-by and vehicles, no fall protection, in the shape of harnesses, platforms and ropes, falling branches and timber, not putting on eye or hearing protection and failure to put on cut resistant apparel (in particular leggings and safety boots). Vulnerable because of these inadequacies are garden sheds and fences, personnel on the ground, passers by, the tree itself, vehicles, the street facilities, the home or property, the tree surgeon himself (person up the tree), the property owners.

Chainsaws in Tree Surgery

Chainsaws

Probably the most commonplace tool used by Bexhill-on-Sea tree surgeons, the chainsaw, in untrained hands, is also the most dangerous. The preferred style of chainsaw with tree care professionals is the petrol driven version, being easily handled and more mobile, although you can obtain mains operated and rechargeable battery chainsaws. Petrol chainsaws are really the only option for substantial tree work, being extremely powerful and able to effortlessly slice through limbs and branches of any proportions.

A chainsaw comprises an engine and a rotating chain with a row of sharp teeth which cut through the wood and bark of a tree. For the different procedures they perform, there are various types of chainsaw, top-handled for working at height (and which can be used with one hand if necessary), pole saws for long distance pruning and hard to reach branches and rear-handled for work at ground level (must be used with two hands).

You will very rarely find an experienced Bexhill-on-Sea tree surgeon who does not use a chainsaw, although being high up in a tree with a rapidly rotating blade in your hand is not the safest activity. In order to gain membership of the Arboricultural Association, being fully trained in the safe use of chainsaws is one of the primary conditions.

For any individual interested in purchasing a chainsaw in the United Kingdom, there are many brands on the market, but the most popular with professional tree surgeons are Husqvarna, Makita, Stihl and Hyundai.

Air-Spading Bexhill-on-Sea

There are a number of factors that can impact on the health of your trees, and the root system is one of the places to look whenever you have concerns. Easy access to your tree's roots will be necessary for an experienced tree care specialist in Bexhill-on-Sea to check for soil compaction, root rot and other plausible issues.

Because there's a possibility of causing damage to the roots during the process of digging, previously this was somewhat problematic to achieve. A method known as "air spading" is used by many up-to-date and "savvy" tree surgeons in Bexhill-on-Sea, and this enables compacted soil to be broken up and cleared away by using compressed air, which avoids causing any damage to the tree's root system or nearby utilities.

The health of a tree can be affected in a negative way when the soil around the roots becomes compacted by heavy foot traffic, building work or passing vehicles. When a tree becomes "stressed" it's more prone to attacks by diseases, insects and pests, and this stress can be caused by a lack of nutrients and water. There can also be problems with root flare, where the flare around the base of the trunk becomes covered in soil, causing the tissue to break down, and increasing the likelihood of root decay. Air-spading is a useful technique for resolving this.

Blowing air into the soil at speeds of up to 1200mph, the air-spading process necessitates the use of an air compressor and an air-spade tool which forces air into voids in the soil, causing it to break down instantly, but not damaging harming the tree roots or utilities. As surrounding soil is blown away from the tree's roots by the powerful flow of air, immediate inspection can take place. A solution can then be implemented for any problems, and the soil replaced with a looser layer of wood chip mulch and fertiliser to help encourage the tree to revive.

Tree Removal Bexhill-on-Sea

Tree Removal Bexhill-on-Sea

Even though there could be a variety of explanations why you might wish to take out a tree from your garden or property in Bexhill-on-Sea, tree removal should be a last resort. A few trees may even be protected, therefore you could not take them out even though you'd like to, except when they're posing a threat to safety. Legitimate factors behind removing a tree could be when your tree poses a safety threat, your tree is diseased/infected, you have a dead/dying tree, the tree is simply too large for its environment, the tree roots are destroying foundations/retaining walls, the tree is hindering a new construction project or the tree has been damaged.

Save The Planet By Planting A Tree

As a result of tree felling, we lose as many as six billion trees on an annual basis. The fact is that the goods that are created from trees are essential for our day-to-day living. Writing paper and household tissues are an illustration of this, as well as the lumber used to build homes. Alas, we need the items that the trees produce but we can do something about the depletion of our woodlands.

Trees are celebrated on Arbor Day and the purpose of having Arbor Day is that we must plant trees at that time but this is not really tackling the issue. Planting trees is not an activity that most folks give any thought to. If they did, we would be all ready to go.

The worldwide population is probably approximately in the 7 billion mark. That is simply an estimate since you can't keep an exact count. Nevertheless, we could replace the trees that are cut down annually if every one of those individuals did actually plant a tree on Arbor day. We know in reality that this is not going to occur.

Plant a Tree

If you want to save our planet, planting trees is a good step that you can take. In terms of planting a tree, I would not propose you just do this on a certain day every year. I am proposing that you plant a tree approximately once every month or even once a week. It is just a fact that a lot of folks will not give any thought to conservation or planting trees, so we have to make up for this ourselves.

Did you know that on Arbor Day, only approximately 8 and 15 million trees are planted? On that basis, we still need to take that number up by a further 5 billion. And every year, it just continues to get worse.

I actually have a solution to the problem entirely even though folks should still go on planting trees whenever they can. What could actually solve this problem is if each lumber company or tree farmer, by law, had to plant two saplings for every tree they take, so our tree issue wouldn't be an issue for long.

But until someone can turn this into reality, we are left to take care of planting the trees ourselves. In fact, restoring the number of trees required is definitely achievable. The number of trees cut down every year could be replaced if ten percent of the world's population planted one tree on a monthly basis. Annually, this would result in the planting of approximately 7 billion trees. For the number of trees we need to return to, an effective net gain of 1 billion trees will be the way to reach this goal.

Planting a tree is a way we can all help the planet. Once more, it merely takes 10% of our population to start making a difference. And you can be one of them.
